On June 27th, the Open Barri festival continued its work of showcasing the architectural and social heritage of the city’s different districts within the framework of the 2026 World Capital of Architecture. Among the program’s highlights, the Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Heart became the main attraction, opening its doors so visitors could discover the details of its impressive architecture, from its crypt to the iconic central tower that crowns the summit of the Collserola mountain range.

The quality of the guided tours was a fundamental aspect of the day, thanks to the direct involvement of Miquel Armengol, the entity’s director. Armengol personally took charge of explaining and training the guides who attended to the public, ensuring that all attendees received technical and rigorous information about the history of a building whose construction began in 1903. This joint effort provided a unique experience, delving into the monumental value and symbolism of a temple that is, without a doubt, an essential reference point in the landscape and history of Barcelona.
