The second day of Campobosco 2026 (#CPB26), following the opening ceremony the previous afternoon, took participants on a journey through Salesian Barcelona.

After morning prayer and the presentation of the day’s schedule, the participants split into two groups to calmly explore the planned itinerary. One group visited the Martí-Codolar Museum, where they immersed themselves in Salesian history, recalling the special visit that Don Bosco made to Barcelona between April and May 1886, two years before his passing. They also remembered the historic photograph taken on May 3, 1886, which shows Don Bosco seated, surrounded by orphaned boys from the Sarrià Oratory, alongside prominent figures of Barcelona society, such as the Venerable Doña Dorotea de Chopitea and Father Rua.

This group also toured other Salesian locations in Barcelona: Can Prats, where Saint John Bosco experienced the missionary dream of the young Salesian Congregation during his 1886 visit; the Parish of Mary Help of Christians at Salesians Sarrià; and the nearby Torre Gironella, a Salesian presence in Barcelona established thanks to the intercession of Doña Dorotea de Chopitea.

The other group headed to the Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Mount Tibidabo, managed by the Salesians. In addition to enjoying spectacular views of the city, the young people visited the Crypt with its chapel of perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the Church, and the upper section of the Temple, right at the foot of the massive 8-meter-tall statue of Jesus.

The Salesian community of Tibidabo, led by its director Miquel Armengol, warmly welcomed the young people, educators, and Salesians who made up the Campobosco 2026 group.
