The Organ

The organ of the Tibidabo Basilica was built between 1977 and 1989 by Gabriel Blancafort i París in his workshop in Collbató.

It features three manual keyboards of 56 notes each, plus a pedalboard of 30 notes. Each manual functions as an independent organ that can be coupled with the others. The first manual, called Cadireta or Positive, has 8 stops; the second, called Great Organ or Main Organ, has 10; and the third, called Recitative or Expressive, has 8 stops. The Pedal keyboard, distributed in two “towers” on either side of the Main Organ, has 10 stops.

In total, the organ has 36 stops and approximately 2,200 pipes. The transmission system is entirely mechanical, and the sound aesthetic is Neo-Baroque.
